Good day

I was blown away! I was overcome with emotion!

The picture above inspired this week’s newsletter.

I resigned from my job in March and my last day was about seven business days ago.

No, I didn't just up an quit. I secured another means of income prior to resigning.

I realized that resigning is new territory for me. When I look back at my employment history, it seems like when I leave a job it is because I am returning to school--summer jobs, moving to another country-- grad school or the agency I’m working with closes--rather not discuss.

Resigning because I was offered a growth opportunity outside the agency I was currently with-- new territory.

As a result, I haven't left many places. Therefore, I haven’t been the center of attention at the farewell celebrations.

This one was mine.

This is is what blew me away!

Cue the tears!

You don’t always know the effect of influence you have on someone else.
Maybe I should rephrase, I don’t always realize how much my actions or behaviors have an inspirational influence on others.

Yes, as a supervisor in the workplace I am cognizant that I have some impact because I want people to do the best work possible and get work done.

However, what was shared verbally were the ways I affected them beyond the work environment.
It was in other areas of their lives - relationships, career or education, health, and fitness…

“I have to think about what I say”; “I have to be kind”; “Your encouragement inspired me to finish school”; “I cut back to one cup of coffee a day now” “I’m still here because you supported me.”


It brings up emotions for me even as I am writing now.

YOU, also have the opportunity to affect others in positive and profound ways when you focus on being your best self.

As you focus on being your best self you will bring smiles to peoples faces; stimulate minds with interesting conversation and activity; inspire others to make a positive change in their life; make them feel good about who they are and their unique gifts.

People won’t forget how you made them feel.


What can you do today to have a positive impact on someone else?
A smile, a greeting, a thank you, an expression of gratitude, a “how can I help”?


WHY would you want to have a positive influence on others?
  • When others feel good, you feel good, which inspires you to create more success in your own life.

  • The more people that we positively influence it will produce a ripple effect that has more and more individuals focusing on presenting their best selves and creating a better environment overall.

If you are reading this I know you could do with more positivity and uplifting people in the world.

It may sound overly sentimental or sappy, but two things I know for sure are:

  • I am proud to be appreciated and recognized for who I am and the positive changes influenced by my actions &
  • I appreciate my coworkers and I will never forget how they made me feel.
