Wow

We are halfway through 2020 already!
What a first six months it has been!

When we were making plans & goals for the year, I don’t think any of us made allowances for the global challenges we are currently facing: COVID-19 and it’s repercussions and Anti-Black racism.

Even though these are unprecedented times we have modified our behavior, our practices.
We have acquired new terminology, new skills, and new awareness.

  • PPE- we can’t leave home without it
  • Social Distancing-more accurately physical distancing. We are still being social.
  • Front-line workers and Essential Workers- We found out who the essential workers really are.
  • We turned to technology and video conferencing became an essential tool.
  • The racial divide became more evident as well as the systems that perpetuate it.
  • We were told to stay at home to slow the transmission of the virus.
  • We found we had more time with ourselves.

How do you want to move forward into the second half of the year?

During the first half, we had to pivot our lives very quickly with the primary thought of safety. Given where we are now, what are your intentions for the remainder of the year?
What is it that you would like to say you accomplished in this tumultuous year?

I encourage you to conduct a mid-year check-in.

Reflect on the first 189 days (# of days at the time of this post) and ask yourself these two questions.

  1. What did I like about the first six months?
  2. What can I do differently?

What did I like about the first Six Months?
List everything. What would you like to continue doing?
How will you maintain or create the space for it to continue?
What are the benefits of it continuing? More importantly, how does it make you feel?

One of the practices I have liked is working from home. Working from home, wherever home is, has been a desire of mine for a while. It has been nice to try it out.
As my agency starts to formulate office re-entry plans I’ve already discussed the possibilities of incorporating working remotely.

What can I do differently?
What situations didn’t work out the way you would have liked?
What could you do next time?
Is there something you didn’t take action on and your indecision has become the decision?

”Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.”
You don’t want to make the same mistakes twice. Learn from them.

Ask yourself these two questions and start the mid-year off with a fresh perspective.

If you would like assistance
contact me with the
Subject line: Mid-year Check-in, and let’s have a conversation to get you started.
Also, share this message with a friend if you found it valuable.

Don’t let the time go by without taking some meaningful and purposeful action.
You don’t want to look back, shaking your head saying hindsight is 20/20.

Stay safe. Stay well!
