Hi ,

I wasn’t going to do it.

I didn’t want to contribute to the Covid19 hysteria.

However, over the past week, it has become clear that the world is facing an unprecedented challenge-Covid19 has been declared a pandemic and events are changing rapidly.

My contribution is to focus on the question  "How do we keep our emotions from reaching pandemic proportions?"

I live in the area of the NY that has the highest number of diagnosed cases. I still have to ride on a subway and I work in an environment where we serve people face to face.
I need to keep calm and carry on.

How do I, how do we, do that?

Every day you have probably received emails or a form of notification about what a service provider, yoga studio, bank, gym, airline, etc. or your employer, is doing to protect their customers, clients, staff, YOU.

How are you taking care of yourself?

The challenge is that there is a lot of unknown.
However, with the knowledge that we do have, are we capitalizing on that?

Yeah- I don’t mean stocking up on toilet paper (I have to admit I don’t understand this response).

First and foremost we need to focus on what we can control. By doing this we can take comfort in knowing we are doing everything that we can possibly do.

Stay informed.

This is a time to focus on your self-care and encouraging the self-care practices of your loved ones.

Perform activities that will boost your immune system:

Practice gratitude
·       Identify things/people/events that you are grateful for.
·       Identify what made you laugh/smile/ made you feel happy during the day.
·       Practice a random act of kindness. Even if it is to make someone else smile.

Physical activity
·       Moderate activity
·       20-30 mins a day
·       Do anything that makes your body move (walk, yoga, bike, dance…)

In addition:

"Stay away from people spreading fear
Stay away from those trying to damage your dream
Don’t spend time with complainers and those pointing blame
Protect your confidence and optimism
Be Creative about seeing new opportunities-as always
And yes, wash your hands."
(Dan Miller- 48 Days to the Work You Love)

These might not seem like a lot but we are keeping ourselves protected, doing the best we can with the information that we have at the moment.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

In this time of self-isolation and social distancing, we need to support each other.
Call a friend and a family member.

It is in times of crisis that we seem to come together.

Thank you to all that reached out to check in on me.

I am here for you.

Stay well!
