Hi ,

It’s about 7 am Sunday morning and I have been up for about two hours. Meditation complete. I have responded to a few emails and now I ponder the rest of the day.

What are my priorities for the day?
"I would like to …, but if I do…then I may not have time to…. "
"I also wanted to…,I want to spend time with…"
"Everything is important". "I am going to get nothing done…"

Let the worry games begin!

What is worry?

The thoughts that continue to go over and over in my head about what could happen if I do or don’t do something.

The preoccupation with the difficulties of a situation in order to proactively avoid or solve an actual or perceived consequence is oftentimes confused with planning?

There is a difference.

"Both worry and planning are similar in that they involve thinking about the future, and possible bad things happening there. The difference is that planning involves coming up with possible solutions to bad outcomes or problems, while worry is simply about getting lost in the fantasy of worst-case scenarios." - Peter B. Wilkins

Planning is productive. Worrying is counterproductive.

"Worrying is using your imagination to create more of what you don’t want"

- Abraham Hicks

When I worry, I end up focusing on what I don’t want to happen.

  • I can worry about the well being of my family members or I can go and spend some time with them.

  • I can worry about my finances or choose not to eat out this weekend and schedule a payment towards my credit card.

  • I can worry about prioritizing what I want to accomplish today or just choose one thing and complete just one step.

We choose where we want to focus our thoughts and energy.

Life is going to happen, the good and the bad of it, whether we agonize about it ahead of time or not. In most cases the worst is not going to happen and if by chance it does, why suffer through it twice?

I was reminded, again, last week that tomorrow is not promised to us, so we need to live our best life today. Spending time with worry thoughts robs you of precious time and energy.

Choose to focus on the present moment and spend time doing what you can do and be done.

In the words of Bob Marley:

"Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright"
